Shoe Some Love with Project Shoebox at Eastwood Mall

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. And I can't help but wonder exactly how many words can you think of these photos...

The month of June has started where millions of kids in the Philippines go back for a new school year. But for others kids, going to school can be another year of long walks on their bare feet. If you want to be part of a change we've always wish to see in own country, let's start by helping these kids.

Project Shoebox is a program created by Eastwood Mall where shoppers can sponsor or donate school shoes so more kids can walk to school in comfort.

It offers guests two ways to help kids with no school shoes:
  • You can either sponsor new shoes for only P250
  • or donate your previously loved (but still in good condition) shoes by dropping it off at the Giant Shoebox located at the 2nd Floor, Eastwood Mall Veranda until June 30.
“This June, so many kids are excited to go back to school, with their new books and school supplies. But there are also children who don’t even have the basics, like school shoes. So they walk to school on their bare feet because their education is so important to them. Project Shoebox was launched for these kids – we want to make going to school easier for them even with just the simple gift of a pair of shoes,” said Kevin Tan, First Vice President and Commercial Division Head of Megaworld Corporation.

All contributions made to Project Shoebox will be given to the kids of Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines Inc. (OB) through Megaworld Foundation.

Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines, Inc. (OB) works to fight hunger, disease, unemployment, illiteracy, and abuse —one family, one community at a time. Through medical intervention and disaster relief, provision of education, coaching for the development of life skills and micro-enterprise activities, and addressing basic health and nutrition needs, OB exemplifies Christian compassion and benevolence.

OB’s children’s programs include Bless-A-Child, where they address the health needs of malnourished children by providing nutritionally balanced meals, health-care visits and free education, Happy Kids Camps, conducted with the help of local churches and Back-to-School, where they offer educational sponsorships to impoverished children in the form of school fees, supplies and uniforms, and more.

We’d like to invite everyone to shoe some love! We encourage you to sponsor a pair of shoes or donate your previously loved but still good ones to Project Shoebox. Let’s all work together to send kids to school in shoes,” Tan said.

White Party Manila 2013 on June 29

A famed literary Stephanie Perkins once said, “The more you know who you are, and what you want, the less you let things upset you.” To be fully accepted by somebody, then, and be loved anyhow, acceptance has to start within. But the question is, will it be worth it? Read: Out and Proud.

There is a number of white parties held annually, catering to the LGBT community—from New York City, Chicago, (Illinois), Miami and Fort Lauderdale (Florida), Palm Springs and Los Feliz (California) and Montreal, although these events are independent of each other—with it's name comes from the requirement that party-goers dress in all or almost all white, whether you're a saint or a sinner.

On June 29, witness as Chelu Productions with the Malate Business Association brings again the largest annual gathering of LGBT community celebrating equality, unity, and acceptance —the 12th White Party Manila at Orosa-Nakpil, Malate for the benefit of Home for the Golden Gays.

Coke Mismo 300mL: Happiness On The Go!

Question: What comes to mind whenever you see, hear or think about Coke?
Well, I can think of four. :)

Lechon. And must be the best one, of course! (Read: not makunat)

Shamrock's Otap (puff pastry).

We would get a box full of it twice a year every time my uncle comes to visit us from Cebu. And it goes well with Coke for merienda.

Christmas.

Only because this is the season when (almost) everyone, my mum included, are insanely hoarding boxes and bottles of Coke until New Year's Eve.

And lastly, Cecile.

Cecile Zamora van Straten is the blogger behind Chuvaness.com ―who blogs about almost everything juicy, interesting and beautiful, always wear her hearts on her sleeve, really nice to people who are also nice, loves wearing black, and (like me) also a sucker for Coke! :)

Coke on shabu-shabu in Ginza.

Japanese Coke.

.Her version of Coke in a bowl of ice! :)

And to quote her as a Coke expert, "Coke is the first thing to go because it makes everything taste so good."

Last week, everything on both Twitter and Instagram was all about the #ItoNa #GleeForCoke hashtags. And netizens, even on Facebook was buzzin' about what the red mystery crates in Glorietta, Ayala Market! Market! and Trinoma malls were all about.

To bring more happiness to Pinoys, the red mysterious crates were simultaneously revealed last Saturday, June 8, 2013 on three Ayala Malls as Coco-Cola launched the Ito Na! Coke Mismo 300mL bottle for only P10 with four of today's global youth icons from the musical TV series Glee: Jacob Artist, Melissa Benoist, Dean Geyer and Becca Tobin.

And to double the fun, the Coca-Cola Happiness Ambassadors' Enchong Dee, Julia Montes, Joseph Marco, and Kathryn Bernardo were there too!

 Iya Villania was hosting.

A few minutes before the red crates will be revealed, while Glee stars and brand ambassadors with Iya Villania walked to the red crates, the crowd went crazy and ran towards it.

That being said, this was my view.

Definitely not a good idea to mix media/press with the fans. 0_0
But I thought, I can't leave without better photos.
So I did the ninja moves, stood on a chair and took these. Ha! :)

Still, please excuse that huge camera right there... and a few hands.

Spotted! Brent Javier.

Jujiin Samonte and Paulo Castro both wearing COMME des GARÇONS. Paulo is very chummy. He had me at "Gusto nyo ng cotton candy?" Haha! :)

Arran "Caloy" Sese, Coca-Cola PH's President for Happiness.

The Coca-Cola Mismo 300 mL available for only P10 allows more Filipinos to enjoy delicious taste and unique refreshment in a 300ml PET bottle that is easy to carry anywhere. For young troopers who are always on the go, say bulky bottles or even plastic bags from sari-sari stores no more, Coca-Cola Mismo provides instant access and portability to that ice-cold bottle of happiness.

From left to right: Joseph Marco, Julia Montes, Jacob Artist, Coca-Cola Philippines' Marketing Director Anubha Sahasrabuddhe, Melissa Benoist, Enchong Dee, Becca Tobin, Dean Geyer, Kathryn Bernardo.

The new Coca-Cola Mismo 300mL bottle is now available in sari-sari stores. Sarap to carry!
