They say a picture is worth a thousand words. And I can't help but wonder exactly how many words can you think of these photos...
The month of June has started where millions of kids in the Philippines go back for a new school year. But for others kids, going to school can be another year of long walks on their bare feet. If you want to be part of a change we've always wish to see in own country, let's start by helping these kids.
Project Shoebox is a program created by Eastwood Mall where shoppers can sponsor or donate school shoes so more kids can walk to school in comfort.
It offers guests two ways to help kids with no school shoes:
- You can either sponsor new shoes for only P250
- or donate your previously loved (but still in good condition) shoes by dropping it off at the Giant Shoebox located at the 2nd Floor, Eastwood Mall Veranda until June 30.
All contributions made to Project Shoebox will be given to the kids of Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines Inc. (OB) through Megaworld Foundation.
Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines, Inc. (OB) works to fight hunger, disease, unemployment, illiteracy, and abuse —one family, one community at a time. Through medical intervention and disaster relief, provision of education, coaching for the development of life skills and micro-enterprise activities, and addressing basic health and nutrition needs, OB exemplifies Christian compassion and benevolence.
OB’s children’s programs include Bless-A-Child, where they address the health needs of malnourished children by providing nutritionally balanced meals, health-care visits and free education, Happy Kids Camps, conducted with the help of local churches and Back-to-School, where they offer educational sponsorships to impoverished children in the form of school fees, supplies and uniforms, and more.
“We’d like to invite everyone to shoe some love! We encourage you to sponsor a pair of shoes or donate your previously loved but still good ones to Project Shoebox. Let’s all work together to send kids to school in shoes,” Tan said.

It's amazing how you are able to cover these kinds of causes for the needy. Project Shoebox should be supported by many. Galing. :D
ReplyDeleteThe shoe box project would help a lot of kids and this is a very good cause.
ReplyDeleteAng galing! This is a very noble project. I can just imagine how many kids will be happy because of having a new or slightly used pair of shoes when going to school. I used to do a little charity in a local home for kids here...my kids take pride being able to help or give some of their unused clothes and shoes. :) -Jo Anne
ReplyDeleteIt is really a great way to help less fortunate kids in areas where government focus less. A salute to the people behind this project. Goodluck :)
ReplyDeleteThis is terrific, I have stuffed a lot of my kids' shoes in a box, without knowing where to give it to. Thanks for letting us know about this great cause!
ReplyDeleteMaybe if slippers were included, many will be more able to give. More children will have something under their feet all the time, even in schools. Giving them shoes is not a bad idea but giving them slippers will be more useful.

Now, it's not just slippers. Hoping for more support for Project SHoebox.
ReplyDeleteAwww, this is a really great projects. I don't have any school shoes right now but I would love to support this by donating other school supplies. Kudos to Eastwood Mall and other stakeholders for this project.
ReplyDeleteI've watched Project Shoebox by our soldiers last month, I guess it's different to Eastwood's project. Anyway, both may be different groups but the advocacy are both superb for the benefit of the Filipino children. -KarenT
ReplyDeleteKudos to Eastwood Mall for launching this project. Their team will surely help a lot of kids! =)
ReplyDeleteGreat cause! Reminds of the TOMS effort of giving shoes to needy kids as well, a cause I'm involved in personally :) Good luck and thanks for sharing this very real problem we're facing.
