Ladies! Wentworth Miller, Is Just Not Into You—At All, Comes Out As Gay

It maybe shocking as it may seem, at least to others, but Prison Break star Wentworth Miller came out as “a gay man” in a letter sent Wednesday to Maria Averbakh, director of the St. Petersburg International Film Festival declining his participation.

“I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government.”, Miller said on the letter.

He added:
"The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly. Perhaps, when and if circumstances improve, I’ll be free to make a different choice."
Here is the copy of the letter sent.

GLAAD spokesman Wilson Cruz said in a statement, “Wentworth’s bold show of support sends a powerful message to LGBT Russians, who are facing extreme violence and persecution: you are not alone. As people from across the globe continue to speak out against Russia’s horrific law, more celebrities and corporations should follow his courageous lead in openly condemning Russia’s anti-LGBT law.”

Miller, who is 41, also had his first screenplay hit theaters this year—Stoker, with Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode and Mia Wasikowska.

Wentworth Miller's "coming out" as his support against violence to LGBT community in Russia will do a huge thing to change how LGBT communities are being treated in other countries.

Well... welcome to the fold, Wentworth Miller! :)
Gay or not, we will continue to support you.

"The more you know who you are, and what you want,
the less you let things upset you."

From Residence Inn to Paradizoo

Truth be told, my idea of a great family time and relaxation is to spend hours at the spa, then go to the movies or a weekend on a fancy hotel with room service and a sumptuous buffet for breakfast.

Not every weekend but once in a while we do need our fix to have a good time, relax and have fun.

But weeks ago, Zoomanity Group offered the Laguna Blogging Summit (2LaBS) team a tour in two of their most well-managed properties—the Residence Inn Tagaytay and Paradizoo Theme Farm to experience first hand what a great weekend with nature and breathtaking views is all about. That said, who are we to say no to the very generous Robert Laurel Yupangco. :)

So around 7AM, we all met up at Starbucks G.A. Yupangco Building where we were fetched by a shuttle provided by the Zoomanity Group.

And here we are, all settled in the shuttle and off to Tagaytay.

Front left to back: Alex Nicolas, Grace Nicolas, Jenny Acsay and son; (back seat) Raffy Potestad and ME; Front right to back: Mac Vasquez's nieces, Dianne Salonga and son, Mark Acsay and Ivan Saldajeno

It was a fine and sunny day when we arrived at the Residence Inn Tagaytay, after an hour travel via SLEX which I didn't really noticed because I was to busy chatting with Mark and Ivan. Haha!

Henry and Angela were our team's tour guides.

On the reception area, we were graced by an Albino chameleon.

Oh why I don't know where to get the courage to but I chose not to have a photo with it no matter how behave and friendly it actually was with everyone. Don't hate me, I'm just scared! Haha!

And as we enter the hall, we were passing through huge aquariums full of exotic aquatic animals...
and korean kids taking photos! Hehe

And a hall full of all kinds of spiders and scorpions!

So yes, imagine my control of fright while I stare on each and every one of them.
I left the hall really pale!

At the animal house, there was quite a show!

The kid inside me was flown to happy land!

 HUGE, I know!

And during the show, a small chameleon was announced to have been lost. But as all the crew searched our seats, it was found on the lap of this dude...

Apparently, it was just a part of the act but freaked everyone out and I almost ate my heart to death.
In the end, everyone laughed on it and obviously enjoyed the show.
It was very entertaining and fun! :)

We then proceed to the birds...

Oh why hello there! :)

And from not-so-friendly monkeys...

to towering ostrich...

to tamed tigers...

and friendly lions.

We also tried the Zing (Swing) ride while enjoying the fantastic view of Taal Lake, and the Zip Line!

We headed next to Paradizoo Theme Farm, which is said to have been featured a number of times on different television shows.

I must say that this place is very grandeur for intimate weddings!

And upon entering, I can't help but notice these small pots of Ashitaba—world renowned in herbal medicine and is referred to as The Miracle Plant—that are being sold for P100 per pot. Definitely a good deal than those being sold on Amazon.com.

We were all given these welcome drinks—iced herbal Tanlad juice, which is by the way the most delisssh tea I have ever tasted! :)

And we were graced by Paradizoo Theme Farm Operations Manager Marlina Taparo.

Front left to right: Mac Vasquez, Angela, Dianne Salonga, Grace Nicolas, Paradizoo Operations Manager Marlina Taparo, Mac's niece, De La Salle Bloggers Club adviser Rhodora Espiritu, Ivan Saldejeno; Back left to right: Mark Acsay, Raffy Potestad, ME

We started the tour with a view of the most common farm animals
and a little demo on how to milk a doe (female goat). :)

Then we proceed to view the plantation and botanical garden.

And to my delight, I finally met the famed five-legged cow! :)

We were also lucky to have witness the honey-bee harvest session with an intern from one of the farm's veterinarians.

It was a day full of nature-loving fun and activities.
But most importantly realizing that sometimes, we all need something that would offer us additional knowledge of these God-given creatures and how to very well take of them as one way of a healthy escape from the very busy lifestyle we have in the city.

Laguna Blogging Summit 2013: Discover What Social Media And Blogging Can Do! #2LaBS

POSTED: 08/10/2013  UPDATED: 11/05/2013

They say you are what you tweet, you are what you post on Facebook and Instagram, and you are what you blog about. And other says social media is a unicorn, but maybe it’s just a horse?

Be informed, join the social revolution, and meet the social revolutionists as they share their strategies on how to win it in the blogoshere and online community on the 2nd Laguna Blogging Summit happening on November 14 - 15, 2013 at the Cultural Center of Laguna, Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

Hosted by Rod Magaru and Florencio Jusay Jr., the second year of the Laguna Blogging Summit (LaBS) will not only promote the tourism of Laguna and talk about Social Media and Digital Marketing, but most importantly promote more awareness for a responsible online and social media community by experts and notable speakers who are successful in their field and advocating information.

Of last year's huge number of attendees, more participants are expected this year from students, professors, bloggers, social media influencers to media practitioners, young professionals and marketing executives to learn more about Digital Marketing, Social Media, and Branding.

"This year, we added a new set of speakers like Carlos Celdran who is the new Manila Chief of Tourism, we are expecting that he will share his knowledge, expertise and experience of the effectiveness of Social Media in Tourism and him being the man who won a lot of awards because of his advocacy.", Lead Organizer Grace Nicolas said.

This year's notable speakers also supporting the Laguna Blogging Summit are Digital Marketing expert Janette Toral, Philippine Star columnist Alvin Cloyd Dakis, COMELEC Communications Director James Jimenez, Manila Bulletin's Tech News editor Art Samaniego Jr, Money Talks host at 106.7 Energy FM and Philippine Daily Inquirer columnist  Randell Tiongson, "The Voice Master" Pocholo De Leon Gonzales, one of the best motivational speaker Lloyd Luna, Internet Marketing expert Ben Francia, De La Salle Zobel Green Bloggers Club adviser Rhodora Espiritu, President and Chairman of Earth Day Network Philippines Roberto Guevarra, and social-political-faith issues writer Eyriche Cortez.

Meet The Winner of The Apprentice Asia

"I joined ‘The Apprentice Asia’ because I’m so sick and tired of seeing Filipinos being bullied when I know we can stand out in the sales and marketing world. This victory is for every Filipino out there. You can never be too small to dream big because dreams are for free… the power is ours to make [our dreams] happen."

— University of the Philippines Economics graduate Jonathan Allen Yabut as he delivers his gratitude speech as the first-ever grand winner of The Apprentice Asia.

When I got invited to the finale viewing party at Hyve in Bonifacio Global City, Wednesday night (July 31) simultaneous to the finale broadcast of AXN Asia for The Apprentice Asia, I knew I had to say yes. And I got even more excited to learn that Publicity Asia's Joyce Ramirez is leading the event.

Truth be told, I had a little time problem because I also had to attend the opening ceremony of the 50 Years of Korean Contemporary Print-making exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum Manila that same day. Luckily, the media conference ended early at 2PM and we were given the first viewing access to all available Korean artworks—instead of the actual opening ceremony at 5:30PM—just enough time for the finale viewing party at 7PM.

Sighed in relief that traffic wasn't a bummer, Dianne and I drove to BGC for a little chat over coffee while waiting for Grace and Andrew. All four of us arrived at Hyve early.

This is our view when the program started.

And during the finale viewing, almost everyone is on their phones while watching the huge screen showing their support for Jonathan on every corners of social media.

The last challenge for the final two was of a no-brainer of whose going to win.
But as it ends, it gets a little blurry and intense.

In the end, Malaysian business tycoon Tony Fernandes announced he had chosen the Filipino senior product manager Jonathan Yabut to become his apprentice over the Singaporean lawyer Andrea Loh.

"You are a junior me in the making. The whole of the Philippines should be very, very proud of you. Welcome to the AirAsia family," the business tycoon added.

The crowd went crazy.

Jonathan together with his fellow contestants Dian Krisha Mukti (Indonasia), Nik Aisyah (Malaysia), Nazril Idrus (Malaysia), Celine Le Neindre (Philippines), Samuel Rufus Nallaraj (India), and Andrea Loh (Singapore) went up on stage along with Vice-President for Sales and Marketing, Jack Lim

From left to right: VP for Sales and Marketing Jack Lim, Dian Krisha Mukti (Indonasia), Nik Aisyah (Malaysia), Nazril Idrus (Malaysia), Celine Le Neindre (Philippines), Samuel Rufus Nallaraj (India), Jonathan Yabut (Philippines) and Andrea Loh (Singapore)

The first to express her gratitude was Andrea Loh of Singapore, "I think you all have seen Jonathan and I grow through every task. And at the end, it was difficult to compete against somebody who you respect that much... Mr. Fernandes said nobody remembers who comes on the second place, but I plan to change that. I think second place should be remembered, I think I should be remembered. Not just being the last girl and the youngest, but someone who fought for it until the end."

As The Apprentice Asia's first grand winner, Jonathan is granted a one-year work contract with a salary of at least $100,000 and he will be in Malaysia as Fernandes’ chief of staff startting August 15.

Jonathan greatly recalls where and how he started, so he expressed his gratitude to his family, UP debate team and friends, former colleagues and bosses.

I joined ‘The Apprentice’ because I’m so sick and tired of seeing Filipinos being bullied when I know we can stand out in the sales and marketing world. This victory is for every Filipino out there. You can never be too small to dream big because dreams are for free… the power is ours to make [our dreams] happen,” said Jonathan in an emotional tone.

I admire Jonathan, not only because he can really express himself well with a great attitude and intellect but for surviving 10 boardroom trials, all the gruelling task on all 11 episodes, and most importantly he serves as an inspiration proving to everyone that the Filipino can achieve so much in marketing leadership and business strategies.

That being said, let me leave you the full-length video of his speech and be inspired even more. :)

The Apprentice Asia is presented by Expedia, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, AirAsia, IG Markets, official smartphone Blackberry and official car Volkswagen.

Korean Print-making through the Decades at MET Museum Manila

When it comes to art, how far would you like to know?

Korea's National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) Curator Yoon-Jung Hwang took us back to the 1950's on how the amazing craft on Korean print-making started, specifically on woodblock print on Korean paper with the pioneering artist Yoo Kang-youl, during the media conference held at White Cube Gallery, Metropolitan Museum of Manila.

For starters, we were graced with an opening introduction from the President of Metropolitan Museum of ManilaTina P. Colayco, and MET Museum DirectorSandra Palomar-Quan about the Fifty Years of Korean Contemporary Print-making Exhibit that will be open to public and will run from August 1 to 23, 2013.

In an effort to heighten the presence of Korea in Southeast Asia, Korea Festival in ASEAN program on ASEAN member countries has been staged since May 2013 that features a variety of cultural events, including diverse performances and exhibitions, along with lecture presentations to share Korea’s “success stories” with local audiences.

Of note, the Fifty Years of Korean Contemporary Printmaking exhibit, a highlight of the Korea Festival in ASEAN program, is being presented by the Korea Foundation, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, and the Metropolitan Museum of Manila
