Ladies! Wentworth Miller, Is Just Not Into You—At All, Comes Out As Gay

It maybe shocking as it may seem, at least to others, but Prison Break star Wentworth Miller came out as “a gay man” in a letter sent Wednesday to Maria Averbakh, director of the St. Petersburg International Film Festival declining his participation.

“I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government.”, Miller said on the letter.

He added:
"The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly. Perhaps, when and if circumstances improve, I’ll be free to make a different choice."
Here is the copy of the letter sent.

GLAAD spokesman Wilson Cruz said in a statement, “Wentworth’s bold show of support sends a powerful message to LGBT Russians, who are facing extreme violence and persecution: you are not alone. As people from across the globe continue to speak out against Russia’s horrific law, more celebrities and corporations should follow his courageous lead in openly condemning Russia’s anti-LGBT law.”

Miller, who is 41, also had his first screenplay hit theaters this year—Stoker, with Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode and Mia Wasikowska.

Wentworth Miller's "coming out" as his support against violence to LGBT community in Russia will do a huge thing to change how LGBT communities are being treated in other countries.

Well... welcome to the fold, Wentworth Miller! :)
Gay or not, we will continue to support you.

"The more you know who you are, and what you want,
the less you let things upset you."

Sebastian Castro Bubble Art Exhibit at Big Bad Wolf, Taguig

Remember him?

After gracing as an ambassador for equality, unity and acceptance at the recent 12th White Party Manila, the American-born Peruvian-Japanese model and actor Sebastian Castro will show us the other side of him—his passion for arts.

Born in Long Island, New York, Sebastian has learned to live independently after he was disowned by his parents at the of age 17 on account of his sexuality. He worked hard to continue his education and got a scholarship at Savannah College of Arts and Design.

Here are some of the previous art works of Sebastian Castro. (Photo credits)

Over the years, Sebastian has traveled a lot to pursue his singing and acting career, took on different genres from performing to visual arts, and modeling. He was among the 69 Hot Bachelors who were featured on Philippine Cosmopolitan Bachelor Bash in 2011 and got several major product endorsements in South East Asia.

Sebastian was part of the indie film Residencia in 2004 and landed a pivotal role in an international film by Danny Cheng Wan-Cheung, Voyage (2013).

In a complicated world of social media, it's easy to think what people have is exactly as it appears. Influence. Judgements. Opinions. But sometimes, all it takes is a little key to open some doors. And with Sebastian Castro, his first art exhibit here in the Philippines.

Even Pablo Picasso knows it all too well, “You don't make art, you find it.”

On July 4-17, witness as Sebastian Castro unveils his art pieces to the public in a hole-in-the-wall restaurant-cum-bar, Big Bad Wolf.

The venue adopts the look of an up-market Brooklyn loft and the sensibility of an art gallery: high, "unfinished" ceilings marked by exposed beams, tall glass walls lining one side, a collection of quirky, hipster-ish paintings on another.

“I paint people, only people. You can expect every color in the palette I touch to be as free as me. This exhibit is an artistic representation of BUBBLES—both literal and figurative.”, said Sebastian Castro.

His art pieces are in pastel on board. It ranges from dimension 15” x 20” and three large scale 30” x 40.” All his bubble art pieces will be for sale while on the exhibit.

Sebastian will grace the opening night at 7:30pm on the 4th of July and he will be back the following Thursday, 11th of July. His exhibit will run from July 4-17, 2013.

To all sneakers collectors and shoe-art lovers, limited edition shoes personally painted by Sebastian Castro, in partnership with NJ Sneakers will also be sold. NJ Sneakers is owned by young entrepreneur Neil John Paras, who has been supporting the Filipino artist in all his business ventures. He is also a co-owner of Big Bad Wolf.

The Big Bad Wolf is located at the ground floor of Fairways Tower, 5th Avenue corner McKinley Road, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Opens from  Mondays to Saturdays, 5pm to 2am.

Here's a map. :)

Out and Proud

Two weeks ago, I've posted on Instagram of what I captioned "Understanding Men: The truth is simpler than you think." Some, mostly gay and alpha hags, may agree and some (definitely most straight men) don't.

But the thing is people can choose to be who they want to be. They can choose to stay in the closet and hide for as long as they could, or come out, face their greatest fear of possible rejection and be proud. Coming out isn't easy and we all know we can be judgemental sometimes. Let's admit it, the coming out of some Hollywood personalities that may have, for a moment, caught us off guard.

Like Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon outed on the New York Daily News and The New York Post in 2004, and announced engagement to Christine Marinoni in 2009.

The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons revealed that he is gay in an interview with The New York Times.

Star Trek star Zachary Quinto came out as gay in a profile in New York magazine.

And following Zachary Quinto is ABC News achor Dan Kloeffer while on air reporting Quinto's story.

On The Line actor and 'N Sync member Lance Bass who came out on People Magazine in 2006.

Grey's Anatomy star T.R. Knight came out of the closet in People magazine after allegedly overhearing his co-star Isaiah Washington make a homosexual slur on set in October 2007.

How I Met Your Mother actor Neil Patrick Harris came out in 2006.

And just recently, the 12-year veteran NBA star who has played with the Washington Wizards and the Boston Celtics, Jason Collins has become the first male U.S. athlete in a major professional sport to come out as gay.

The 34-year-old NBA player tells Sports Illustrated:
"I didn't set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport. But since I am, I'm happy to start the conversation. I wish I wasn't the kid in the classroom raising his hand and saying, 'I'm different.' If I had my way, someone else would have already done this. Nobody has, which is why I'm raising my hand."

In his interview, Collins mentioned, "When I was younger I dated women. I even got engaged. I thought I had to live a certain way. I thought I needed to marry a woman and raise kids with her. I kept telling myself the sky was red, but I always knew it was blue... I've endured years of misery and gone to enormous lengths to live a lie. I was certain that my world would fall apart if anyone knew," he continues. "And yet when I acknowledged my sexuality I felt whole for the first time. I still had the same sense of humor, I still had the same mannerisms and my friends still had my back."

The issue of same-sex marriage and equality has always been a matter of heated debate for years now. And it even made a huge issue in professional sports in recent months when San Francisco 49ers player Chris Culliver told Artie Lange that he would not welcome gay players in the NFL or on his team.

But that didn't stop Collins from coming out and got a huge support online.

Former president Bill Clinton and daughter Chelsea Clinton both tweeted their support. Collins and Chelsea Clinton attended Stanford University together.

NBA commissioner David Stern also released a statement of support, saying:
As Adam Silver and I said to Jason, we have known the Collins family since Jason and Jarron joined the NBA in 2001 and they have been exemplary members of the NBA family,” Stern said. “Jason has been a widely respected player and teammate throughout his career and we are proud he has assumed the leadership mantle on this very important issue.
"The first openly gay team-sport athlete would earn millions in endorsements and speaking engagements from companies seeking to capture more of a U.S. lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender adult population whose annual buying power he pegs at almost $800 billion," Bloomberg wrote after an interview with communications strategist Bob Witeck.
