This Year's Bags of Desire

First, the Hula Hoop bag. Then, sneakers in a Haute Couture collection. And now, Chanel has officially joined the street style fashion with watercolor backpacks, tote and flap bags.

Chanel's head designer and creative director Karl Lagerfeld is always able to create something amazing, creative and unique. Amongst the many stylish pieces that provided a visual feast, what made it stood out were the modern and vivid interpretations as Chanel’s take on the art portfolio and a backpack laden with graffiti motifs—covered with strokes from a paintbrush continuing the running Art theme of the collection.

The iconic Chanel backpacks were worn during the Spring/Summer RTW 2014 runway show.

Boy Flap bags to covet including leather that is braided, crystallized and faded, and are updated with a new denim exterior as well as the warm two-tone bags in dusty pink and beige.

Tote bags gets an upgrade with this beautiful quited design, perfect for casual Fridays, also available in smaller sizes.

Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci for Nike

Ladies and gentlemen, forget about loafers, high heels and boots for this year's fashion trend are sneakers. Not only Chanel has introduced it (even) in a Haute Couture collection, but the new freedom for our feet is taking fashion by storm.

Nike has teamed up with Givenchy's creative director Riccardo Tisci for an exclusive range of high luxe sneakers and covetable capsule collection, after collaborations with Parisian brand A.P.C. and British department store Liberty London.

A big theme—drawing inspiration from streetwear—in his Givenchy Fall/Winter 2014-2015 menswear collection, the Italian designer revisited the American sportswear brand's iconic Nike Air Force 1 sneaker model.

The legendary shoe comes in four versions: low, mid or hi-top, and a knee-high style, featuring wide straps in vibrant colors for a tribal feel.

The unisex appeal of Nike Air Force 1 has made it a feature on feet worldwide, including those of Riccardo Tisci himself, as he recently claimed to Vogue US that he owns at least a 100 identical pairs of the sneaker.

“The shoe is universal yet somehow very personal. I travel all over the world, and I see people wearing the Air Force 1, and they wear it in so many different ways. And so I was thinking, what is the essence of the Air Force 1? And how do I take that essence and make my own statement?” says Riccardo Tisci.

Tisci continues, “The Air Force 1 is not about gender, it’s not about a particular city, nor is it about a certain style. The community decides. It’s democratic. It’s love.”

The four new models will be available in white by March 2014, to be sold in selected stores and on nikelab.com, and then in a black version by April 1.

Brad Pitt For Chanel No. 5

Money. Fame. Good looks.
If there’s one guy who is envied by most men all over the world,
it’s Brad Pitt - one of the sexiest man alive.

Now, imagine a brand linked up to his name
and mostly represented by women?

Three words: BIGGEST STATEMENT EVER!

On October 15, Chanel will unveil a new campaign including print ads and a short film shot by Anna Karenina director Joe Wright starring the man who lures all women worldwide and the most iconic actor of our time as the new face and hardbody of Chanel No. 5Brad Pitt!

In its 91 year history, a man will serve as the face of the Chanel No. 5 fragrance for women for the first time – which was represented by Catherine Deneuve, Ali MacGraw and Nicole Kidman before – after the scent created by designer Coco Chanel in 1921 and became famous from a Marilyn Monroe’s exchange with the press…

"What do you wear when you go to bed, Marilyn?
Chanel No. 5."

and through the 1950’s and beyond as the most distinctive high-society fragrance ever created.

To keep a legend fresh,
you always have to change its point of view…
We think very much that the perfume is a seduction between a man, a woman and the perfume.”

Chanel Fragrance and Beauty President Andrea d’Avack
told Women’s Wear Daily of the new direction.

Brad Pitt gives us more of a seductive black-and-white imagery three videos sneak peek, than the full-on tease treatment in a teaser released this week,. The 7-second audio clip has him asking, “Are you going somewhere? Where?” and an accompanying image shows just the back of his head.

Take a look at the sneak peek videos
of what $7 million looks like!

Too bad the full commercial debuts
on October 15 - 12.01am Paris time for total satisfaction
but for sure, it will be worth the wait.

Je vais lookout pour elle! :)

Hindi Ko Kinaya!

Would you dare wear this
enormous-wind-turbine-flanking-the-catwalk bag?
PLEASE EXPLAIN. (LOL!)

This Chanel hula hoop bag was first seen in Chanel Spring/Summer 2013 show at Paris Fashion Week and was the talk of the show's collection for the French fashion house. Sure Chanel's head designer and creative director Karl Lagerfeld is one of the best minds in the fashion industry, but has the weirdest and bizarre ideas too. And you might be surprised to what it's intended purpose.

"It's for the beach. You need space for the beach towel.
And then you can put it into the sand and hang things on it."
Lagerfeld told the Daily Telegraph post-show about the circular design.

So, let's try to imagine one of the 10 most valuable luxury brand valued at $6.7 billion on the beach in the sand??? But really, who would want that? Lady Gaga, perhaps? :)

But one thing is for sure, we'll be on the look for celebrities and socialites strutting this Chanel bag in The Hamptons, Anse Source d’Argent and St. Barts to the beach.

One word: WERQ! :)

Chanel Paris-Bombay Pre Fall 2012 Ad Campaign Featuring Baptiste Giabiconi

No signs to show Karl Lagerfeld giving up Baptiste Giabiconi as his model muse after news of Baptiste's focus onto his music career. Even Karl Lagerfeld is the one who photographed Baptiste for the Chanel Paris-Bombay Pre Fall 2012 Ad Campaign below:

Do you have any of these?

Luxury. Desired by many, indulged by few.

A lot of us are used to designer brands and names that are popular
by word of mouth, and to what celebrities and fashion icons wear.
But do we really know their business values?

Top 10 Most Valuable Luxury Brands:

1. Louis Vuitton, owned by LVMH, is worth $25.9 billion, a 7 percent increase from 2011, according to Millward Brown Optimor’s 2012 BrandZ study. Louis Vuitton the French maker of laminated canvas handbags, has named the world’s most valuable luxury brand for a seventh consecutive year.

2. Hermes, in which LVMH owns a stake, rose to second place with a value of $19.1 billion, up 61 percent on last year.

3. Rolex, valued at $7.2 billion, up 36%.

4. Chanel, valued at $6.7 billion.

5. Gucci, $6.4 billion (down 14%).

6. Prada, $5.7 billion (first time in top 10).

Prada, which sold shares in Hong Kong’s biggest initial public offering last year, made its debut in the luxury ranking in sixth place with a value of $5.7 billion. Prada plans to add about 80 stores annually over the next three years, many of which will be directly owned, reflecting a general trend among luxury makers to assert tighter brand control by shifting away from licensing and franchising, according to the study.

7. Cartier, values at $4.8 billion.

8. Hennessy, values at $4.6 billion.

9. Moet & Chandon, $4.2 billion.

10. Burberry, values at $4.09 billion.

“Luxury is seen as a good investment with people increasingly buying classic pieces
rather than high fashion.”

 - Nick Cooper (Millward Brown Optimor Managing Director)

From lifestyle to fashion, it is critical for us to know the business values of the designer brands we choose because it is not only a possession and a piece of  iconography used to express our individual identity, but — an investment — more than ever.

So to those who can afford it, indulge! :)
