So I should have blogged about this days ago but I was pre-occupied with a lot of things.
But here it goes.
Last June 28, 2013, Meg Magazine celebrated a victorious and memorable 15 years in the business and still growing to be one of the best print and online magazine there is.
But before I take you to what have happened that night, let me show you a video.
WATCH! :)
And indeed, Meg Magazine has grown from being a pretty little girl next door to a young beautiful woman. And there's no better way to face more years to come than a fabulous party on a Tuesday night at Republiq Club, Resorts World Manila with guests dressed on their best Military Glam outfits.
Truth be told, I barely made an effort to dress up not because I know nothing about Military Glam but only because I only have a few hours to raid my closet for it and unfortunately for camouflage, it has never reached my closet, ever. So I wore my favorite white pants and glam it up with a Rajo Laurel coat and Standford Road button-down shirt.
I texted a blogger friend Janus dela Cruz to come with me to the party and agreed to be my photographer. But since Janus had a shaky hand, I ended up borrowing some photos from Meg's anyway. And we forgot to take photos of our own outfits with so much juicy kwento while waiting for the gate to open. Haha! We even forgot to take the photo of one of our waiting-in-vain partner in the coffee shop, ABS-CBNnews.com web content writer James Banaag and his girlfriend who's fabulously part of I Am Meg's Top 16.
In case you decided to ditched the party, here's what you missed:
Let me start with the long lines of guests waiting to enter Republiq.
While outside, we bumped into John Herrera. And it was funny how he approached and remembers me. Haha! :)
With the talented designers: Paul Herrera, Levenson Rodriguez, John Herrera, Mikee Andrei, Oz Go.
Since Janus had an itch to smoke since we got into the venue, John went down with us to the drop-off area for a cigar while talking about MEGA Young Designers Competition All-Stars: John and his twin brother Paul's ups and downs, some of the challenges they so have worked hard, and the funny moments being in the competition. But most of all, what they've learned from it.
Not to mention the idea that John and Paul Herrera are now one of the sought after designers from whom stylists call and go to for celebrity dresses as their days humbly turned into an everyday Project Runway-ish day and I quote, "Hindi ako sanay nang ganito." And he laughed.
As we went inside, these were what greeted us.
Colorful booth of Collection Cosmetics.
Cute little jars of custom Meg sweets from MadeInCandyPhilippines.
Guests writing messages in neon ink on Collection's wall.
Early birds getting a free Hotlights Lipgloss with a built in light in the cap that is very handy when touching up your makeup in places like dark clubs.
Three charming men Graeme Perkins, Duc Le Tu, and Gerome Medel who helped demostrates how Pouch Mobile App works in getting rewards, easy to manage loyalty cards, and giveaways–all for the price of one free app and a couple snaps of their QR codes.
The crowd went wild as G-Force opened the program with a sizzling performance of their very own Pow Wow and Psy's Gentleman.
See it for yourself. WATCH!
P.S Sorry, my hands were a bit shaky too! :)
Meg Style Ambassador Julz Savard was hosting.
Guests were graced by MEG Magazine's editor-at-large Bianca Gonzales.
And TV 100 program head Michael Carandang giving hints to guests for a bigger and better Season 2.
Style bloggers Laureen Uy and Camille Co on-stage, handpicked three girls from the audience that exemplified the military glam fashion: sweet and feminine, whimsical color, and edgy rocker.
The I am Meg Top 16, all on stage for the first time before the competition starts and holding their flags aloft in victory!
SPOTTED! The hotties Victor Silayan and Luke Jickain.
P.S. I have honestly forgot your names and I don't know how to reach the three of you. Must be because of too much vodka? Haha! Please comment away if ever you see his post. :)
Musician and advocate Abby Asistio, who was featured at MEG Magazine's June 2013 issue.
G-Force's Gelai Aguzar and Jorge Jahnke.
The ever-talented photographer Shaira Luna.
Told ya! Janus hands were 50x shaky than mine! Haha
On their party mood are Jericho Rosales, Kim Jones, Julz Savard, Winnie Wong, and guest. :)

Abby has auditioned in The Voice of the Philippines. Sadly she didn't make it through. I find her voice okay pa naman.
ReplyDeleteShe did? I'll look it up on YouTube. Sayang naman if she didn't make it to one of the teams. :(
DeleteYeah sayang nga. It was through her that I appreciated the song "Girl on Fire" by Alicia Keys.
DeleteIt's nice to see a magazine grow alongside it's readers and 15 years is really a statement of the adaptability and readership of Meg Magazine.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more. Imagine being in the industry since 1998? I even remember my sister buying copies of it with her friends and get sooo giddy on Backstreet boys! HAHA :)

ReplyDeleteThis event is so fabulous! I'm sure, MEG magazine will go a long long way and maybe celebrate another 15 more years in the business.
ReplyDeleteI am at a loss about this Meg Mag. I am not really familiar with this social magazine, I believe. Anyway, the celebration of its 15th successful years of existence is well conducted and well participated by the beautifuls and the dancers. Very nice celebration night.
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed with all your photos! Vibrant kasi. Congratulations Meg Magazine for the successful 15 years. More years to come!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations MEG Magazine! For 15 years, it stood strong and now, it's going stronger and better! Thanks for this post and lucky you! You have the chance to see the celebrities in flesh! :D
ReplyDeleteNow I feel old. I remember buying their magazines when I was in high school. Oh 15 years...
ReplyDeleteI think I know one of the guy's you were with (the trio photo who you can't remember the names). I think that's Paolo Villaluna. He's friends with my kuya, who's also a director.
ReplyDeleteHappy 15th Anniversary Meg. I'm sure everyone enjoyed that night.
ReplyDeleteWaaah I miss attending to One Mega Group events... sa Opus, sa Privé, sa Republiq... the most beautiful people in town gather when One Mega Group throws a party! Happy anniv. to their Meg Mag! =)
ReplyDeleteNostalgic :) My friends and I grew up falling in love with Meg Magazine back in high school when it first published:) I can't believe it's been 15 years since then haha I'm feeling so old :D
ReplyDeleteHappy 15th MEG! I used to love Meg magazine before during my HS and college years. I feel so old in this post. :) It wasn't long ago that I used to party hard and get knocked out with vodka before I became mom. Natawa ako sa 50x shaky hand! :)
ReplyDeleteWow! 15 years na pala ang MEG! Congrats Meg Philippines
ReplyDeleteMeg is to the Philippines as Seventeen is to the US. I basically grew up with Seventeen as there were no local glossies yet in the country when I was a teen. I'm glad my daughter would have a local mag to relate to when she becomes a teen.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a really fun event! :) I love Meg Magazine too!
